The 42nd Franklin School Fun-Run will be held Friday morning, May 3rd, weather permitting. The run wil begin as soon around 9:15 a.m. as possible. In case of bad weather May 10*h had been reserved as an alternate date.  The Fun-Run is a 5-Kilometer road race encouraging physical fitness. Students may either run or walk.   No student bikes, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, or skateshoes will be allowed. Medals wil be awarded in the year-end awards assembly to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place boys and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place girls at each grade level. Students receiving medals must have completed the entire course on foot. Only Franklin students are eligible to receive student medals. (Kindergarten does not participate in this event except for an occasional kindergartner who might be taken on the race by a parent. They have their own race on May 10th.).  Parents are invited to participate with their children. Parents and guests wishing to participate should go to the registration table to receive a name tag prior to the race. Those who do not wish to run or walk the course are invited to watch or help out with officiating or supervision.  The weather is sometimes very warm on the day of the Fun-Run. If you feel that your child wil need a drink along the way, send him/her with an easy to carry water container.

La 42a Carrera Popular de la Escuela Franklin se celebrará el viernes 3 de mayo por la
mañana, si el tiempo lo permite. La carrera comenzará tan pronto como sea posible alrededor de las 9:15 de la mañana. En caso de mal tiempo se ha reservado el 10 de mayo como fecha alternativa.
La Fun-Run es una carrera por carretera de 5 kilómetros que fomenta la buena forma
física. Los estudiantes pueden correr o caminar. No se permitirán bicicletas, patinetes, monopatines patines de ruedas o zapatillas de skate. Las medallas se entregarán en la asamblea de premios de fin de año al 1er, 2do y 3er lugar de los niños y al 1er, 2do y 3er lugar de las niñas de cada grado. Los alumnos que reciban medallas deberán haber completado todo el recorrido a pie. Sólo los alumnos de Franklin son elegibles para recibir medallas estudiantiles. (Kindergarten no participa en este evento a excepción de un niño de kindergarten ocasional que podía ser tomado en la carrera por un padre. Ellos tienen su propia carrera el 10 de mayo).  Los padres están invitados a participar con sus hijos. Los padres e invitados que deseen participar deben ir a la mesa de registro para recibir una etiqueta con su nombre antes de la carrera. Aquellos que no deseen correr o caminar por el recorrido están invitados a observar o ayudar oficiando o supervisando.  El tiempo a veces es muy caluroso el día de la Carrera Popular. Si cree que su hijo necesitará beber algo durante el recorrido, envíelo con un recipiente de agua fácil de llevar.

Hours:  8:15 am to 7:30 pm
**Closed from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Students need to arrive at 6:40 pm for warm-up and set-up.


Band students need to wear Sunday Best.  Boys:  Button-up shirt with collar, tie, slacks, and nice shoes.  Girls:  Dress or skirt or slacks with a nice top and nice shoes.
