Franklin Elementary School

Our School Community Council meets regularly to discuss what is happening at Franklin, progress on our goals, and how we are choosing to use certain funds.  Below you can find the notes from our most recent School Community Council Meeting.

Franklin Elementary SCC Meeting held Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 3:45 p.m.

School Community Council Members present for the meeting include Robin Woodbury, Jason Benson, Brenda Fuller, Sarah Peterson, and Brittany Taylor.  Daniel Stokes and Teri McCabe were also in attendance.

Jason Benson opened the meeting by welcoming all in attendance.  The committee then voted on new leaders.  Robin Woodbury was nominated.  Voting led to 5 voted in favor with zero opposed.  We need one more parent on our Community Council to have the 4-to-2 ratio that is required.  If you know of anyone who would like to join our School Community Council, please have them contact Jason Benson.

Teri shared the Dixon Open House information with the Committee.  A trunk or treat will be at the old Dixon building on October 29, at 6:00 pm.

Teri shared that Social workers are being discussed at the upcoming Legislature.  We need to show support to continue to receive funding for social workers in our schools.

As a CSI update, Mr. Benson shared we are in our third year. Federal funding for CSI is no longer available. The School Community Council had a discussion on needs as a result of the loss of funding.

Robin shared a PowerPoint on Safe routes for walking to Franklin.  The School Community Council will create a parent survey to be given out during SEPs to get parent input on how students get to/from school. Once data is gathered, data will be analyzed to update our current map.

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 3:30 in the Franklin Conference room.
